In pursuit of deeper knowledge and expertise, Professor Attia Shafie moved to the First Medical Institute in Moscow, USSR, to complete his Ph.D. in 1978. His doctoral research on the formulation of ophthalmic preparations included extensive studies on the physico-chemical properties and pharmacokinetics of an ophthalmic ointment containing sulfapyridine and hydrocortisone acetate.
