Mohammed Sherif Saddik Ibrahim began his academic journey with a strong foundation in pharmaceutical sciences. He earned his Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Assiut University, Egypt, on July 22, 2006. His dedication to the field was evident early on, as he quickly advanced to pursue postgraduate studies. By July 24, 2011, he had obtained his Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, specializing in pharmaceutics. His master’s thesis, titled “Formulation and Clinical Evaluation of Some Topical Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms of Phenytoin,” highlighted his interest in the clinical applications of pharmaceuticals. Not stopping there, Mohammed continued his academic pursuits, earning a Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Ph.D.) in Pharmaceutics from Assiut University on January 24, 2017. His doctoral research focused on the “Formulation and Clinical Evaluation of Some Topical Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms of Methylene Blue for Photodynamic Therapy,” showcasing his commitment to innovative therapeutic solutions.

In 2014, Mohammed transitioned to an academic role at Sohag University, Egypt, where he served as an Assistant Lecturer of Pharmaceutics and Clinical Pharmacy until February 26, 2017. Following his Ph.D., he was promoted to Lecturer in the same department, a position he held until June 27, 2022. His excellence in teaching and research led to his appointment as an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics and Clinical Pharmacy at Sohag University on June 29, 2022, where he continues to contribute to the field. Additionally, since September 13, 2022, Mohammed has been coordinating the Clinical Pharmacy Program at Sohag University, further cementing his role as a leader in pharmacy education.

🎓Early Academic Pursuits :

Professor Mohamed Attia Shafie began his academic journey at Assiut University, Egypt, where he pursued his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, graduating in 1969. His interest in the field propelled him to further his education at the same institution, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutics in 1972. His research focused on the interactions between plastic containers and certain liquid pharmaceutical preparations, highlighting his early engagement with the critical aspects of pharmaceutical formulation.

In pursuit of deeper knowledge and expertise, Professor Attia Shafie moved to the First Medical Institute in Moscow, USSR, to complete his Ph.D. in 1978. His doctoral research on the formulation of ophthalmic preparations included extensive studies on the physico-chemical properties and pharmacokinetics of an ophthalmic ointment containing sulfapyridine and hydrocortisone acetate. This foundation set the stage for his future contributions to the field of pharmaceutics.

Professor Attia Shafie’s professional career spans several decades, primarily focused on teaching and research in the field of pharmaceutics. He has held numerous esteemed positions at various academic institutions. Currently, he is a Professor of Pharmaceutics at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Assiut University, where he has been teaching since 2011. He is responsible for imparting knowledge on topical preparations to students and has made significant contributions to curriculum development.

Before his current role, he served as the Head of the Pharmaceutical Technology Department at the German University in Cairo from 2006 to 2011, where he taught quality assurance and current good manufacturing practices (cGMP). His leadership extended to Assiut University, where he was the Professor and Head of the Pharmaceutics Department from 2002 to 2006, teaching courses in biopharmaceutics and dosage form design.

In addition to his academic roles, Professor Attia has garnered experience in the pharmaceutical industry. He worked as a consultant for Liptis Pharmaceuticals and Cid Pharmaceutical Company, where he contributed to product development and quality control from 2004 to 2006. He also served as a Production Manager at T3A Pharmaceutical Company from 1999 to 2000, managing the production of various pharmaceutical dosage forms.
